THE AMSTEL GOLD RACE OPENS THE ARDENNES WEEK
The Classic Race in the Dutch region of Limburg and valid for the Women’s World Tour, will start tomorrow, Easter Sunday, the Tryptic of the Ardennes, between the Netherlands and Belgium, which will continue on Wednesday 24th at the Fleche Wallonne and ends on Sunday 28th at the Liege - Bastogne - Liege.
The Amstel Gold Race measures 126.8 kms and it develops entirely on the hills around the Town of Maastricht (Start of the race) to end near the Cauberg, a climb of about 1 km until 11% situated above Valkenburg, very close to the Belgian and German border, like the rest of the race route.
The Team Alé - Cipollini, guided by the Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti, has at the race start a line-up composed by the Commonwealth Champion Chloe Hosking, Soraya Paladin, Nadia Quagliotto, Eri Yonamine, Karlijn Swinkels and Diana Peñuela.
Rai Sport will broadcast the race live between 1:20 PM and 2:30 PM.
The Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti says on the race eve: “The Amstel Gold Race is a very important Classic race. The route is very hard, with all those cotes one after the other until the finish. It will be important to be ready and in the best place.”
