The Cycling Star from Canberra is still living a great moment of shape: Chloe Hosking could end the stage one of the Australian race (Healesville - Healesville, 123.5 kms) in third place with the provisional leadership in the Intermediate Sprints Classification.

It was a very tough stage, with two long climbs in the final part: the first was 5 kms long with 10% slopes, the last was 8 km long with 6/7% average. Hoskings’ qualities could be totally visible, especially her improve on the climbs, as she attacked with other 9 athletes. The head of the race have been catched at half of the second climb, and the new peloton was composed now by 35 cyclists. Chapman and Van Vleuten did the decisive attack and the chasers did the sprint for the third place, won by Hosking, at 1’02’‘. Chloe is the new leader of the Intermediate Sprints and she will start the very short ITT in Melbourne (only 1600 meters of length) as third to last.

The Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti declared: “Everybody did a big teamwork today. It was a very hard stage, but we did well what we had to do. Chloe is in great shape, she is improving a lot on the climbs and we will do our best to keep in the ITT what we have achieved today”.
