ALE' - LA MERCKX, VERONA IS #YELLOWFLUOORANGE
For its third time the notorious City in Veneto will host tomorrow the Granfondo, organized by Alè, Main Sponsor of the President Alessia Piccolo’s Elite Women Cycling Team, who is performing really well in this first part of 2018, being able to jump from the 8th place to the 4th in the UCI Team Ranking.
The athletes and staff have met this morning the former cyclist Mario Cipollini, World Champion 2002 in Zolder (Belgium) and recordman of wins at the Giro d’Italia (42) and 191 victories in his career, with who they took the photo here above. Cipollini is official bike supplier and second main sponsor of the Women Team.
The Granfondo Alè - La Merckx is one of the most important and waited stages od the Alè Challenge Circuit, which includes all the main granfondos in Northern Italy. Two routes are available for the Alè - Cipollini athletes and all the participants, including the “Cannibal” Eddy Merckx, to who this event is dedicated: the granfondo route is 125 kms long. It developes along the Lessinian valleys and it has a height difference of 2540 meters. The highest point is on the Passo del Pidocchio (1568 m), last KOM of the day. The Mediofondo is 81 km long and the climb named “Cronoscoscalata del Cannibale” is common to the Granfondo: 9.5 km of climb, highest slope 15%, average 7% and 592 meters of height difference. The start and finish are both situated in Piazza Bra, in front of the Arena di Verona.
